Flora and Fauna

Bhutan has been identified as one of the 10 bio-diversity hot-spots in the world and has mandated to have at least 70% of forest coverage at all times. In the varied eco-system ranging from snow covered mountains in the north to sub-tropical climate in the south, it is estimated to harbour about 770 species of birds, about 55 species of rhododendrons, along with over 300 species of medicinal plants.

The nine national parks and wildlife sanctuaries are home to some of the most endangered as well as rare species of Blue Sheep, Snow Leopard, Red Panda and the great Himalayan Bear amongst many others.

Bhutan is also a second home to the Black Necked Cranes who fly here in winter to escape the harsh cold of the north.

The Bhutanese live in harmony with nature and treasure it. They respect sanctity of life, revere mountains, forests and rivers as abodes of gods.

Our nature tours are an insight to this beautiful world.
